State Minister, who attended and Guest of Honor the 2016EC annual performance evaluation forum held by the Ethiopian Health Insurance Service, and gave his opening speech, mentioned that more than 10 billion birr had been collected in the 2016EC fiscal year, and said that this is creating great potential for the health sector, which has allowed it to be the focus of the government. Dr. Dereje said that in order to strengthen the health insurance system and provide the required services, health insurance centers should be established at the federal, regional and zonal levels. He said that one of the goals of health insurance is to support each other so that one district can support another district. One of the activities that will be focused on in the 2017EC fiscal year is the establishment of regional and federal centers. In 2017EC fiscal year, Dr. Dereje said that by making 1052 districts accessible to community health services, he was able to produce more than 51 million members. Health Insurance Service was established to provide health to those without health. And since money is to help others, making it accessible to all regions is to achieve the goal of the health insurance system. Dr. Dereje said, "It works to make health insurance users affordable and accessible to citizens who cannot pay." He pointed out that income-based community health insurance contribution system, establishing an open fund, strengthening executive bodies, identifying citizens who cannot pay and improving the service system should be the areas of focus for 2017EC. At the consultation forum, the Deputy Chief Administrator of Gamo Zone of the Southern Ethiopia Regional Government Mrs. Lsanework Kasaye, the General Director of the Ethiopian Health Insurance Service Mr. Tesfaye Workun and the Deputy General Director Mrs. Yamrot Andualem were present in the forum.
